They are really durable engines IF you take care of it and stay religious on engine and drivetrain maintenance schedule. The best car I found for this use was a 2012 Audi A6, this one comes with the 3.0T paired with DL501 gearbox (commonly found in S4/S5). The previous 3.0T Supercharged version seems to have a very positive track record for reliability outside of the normal water pump, thermostat and coil issues.
